Banana Nut Bread

This recipe comes from Della D. It is delicious on its own, or topped with a little butter, and it makes the home smell so good! It's simple to make and stays fresh for days!

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of margarine
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup of mashed banana
  • 1/2 cup of chopped nuts
  • 2 cups of sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1/4 sour milk (to make, add 1 tbsp of vinegar to milk)

Step-by-step Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and margarine
  2. Add in the eggs and the banana
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, alternating with the sour milk - a little of each at a time
  5. Fold in the nuts
  6. Grease an 8x4x3 loaf pan and add the mixture
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 5 minutes
  8. Let cool and enjoy!
